The PIPER analytics engine aggregates microbial data in an operational context.  This enables verifiable chain of custody and microbial risk assessment at each point in the supply chain. 


Ancera is currently looking for a biologist with a passion for developing their microbiology & molecular biology skillset to help develop new products for our PIPER platform.  Prior experience working with food pathogens common in the poultry processing industry is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development, validation, and commercialization of antibody-based pathogen capture products for Salmonella, Listeria, and Campylobacter for the PIPER platform

  • Contribute to NGS and/or probe-based hybridization product development programs

  • Working with a multidisciplinary team of research scientists, you will help design and execute experiments critical to timely product launches

  • Characterize biological reagents such as antibodies and cell labeling systems to support development and commercialization activities

  • Generate validation data to verify product performance and to support external organization requirements for food and animal health testing (such as AOAC/AFNOR/ISO)

  • Incorporate descriptive statistical analysis and deliver concise presentations to peer review groups such as marketing, sales, customers, and technical functions

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Researcher with strong technical and scientific background

  • Highly skilled at standard microbiology, molecular biology, and/or immunoassay techniques

  • Experience working with diverse microbial organisms (e.g. bacteria, parasites, and other microbes)

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn a variety of protocols. Self-motivated to learn new tools and technologies

  • Commitment to laboratory safety and compliance with all associated rules, regulations, and guidelines

  • Training and experience handling pathogenic bacteria in a biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) environment is preferred

  • Effectively communicate issues and results that impact timelines, accuracy, and reliability of laboratory data to senior management

  • Familiarity with current food pathogen test methods is preferred

Education/Experience:

  • Required: BS/MS in microbiology or related field with a minimum two (2) years of laboratory  experience 

  • Preferred:

    • Prior experience with assay development

    • Prior experience working with animal samples
